How to photograph it

  • Shoot the pair at a slight angle from the front, so the toe, laces and side are all visible.
  • Clean the soles and lace them neatly before you shoot. Scuffs and loose laces carry into every result.
  • Take extra photos yourself of the sole, the heel and any logo or label: buyers want them, and they show the real item.
  • White shoes need even light. Shoot near a window, not under a yellow bulb, so they stay white.

Questions sellers ask

What is the best background for sneaker photos?

A plain light grey or white background with a soft shadow, as in the studio example. It shows the shape and keeps white shoes looking white. Use a styled scene as an extra photo.

Can I show sneakers on a model?

The on-model look frames the whole person, so the shoes end up small in the photo. For shoes, studio and room scenes work better; we left our on-model test out of this page for that reason.
